It is no doubt that our new President is an incredibly charismatic man. One that has brought people together in a way we have not seen for a long time. A compelling reason to vote for some one to be the leader of our Country--charisma, leadership qualities, confidence and strength...a family man who embodies what so many of us have dreamed of as we enter our first day with an African American President.
Here is where things get so difficult for me. A great leader who is leading us in the wrong direction is even more detrimental to the future of our Country than some one who has stood firm on their values and yet may not be such a strong leader.
I believe wholeheartedly that we must vote for leaders who value life above all.
What troubled me is that those who believe as I do were willing to vote for a man who does not stand for a right to life. They celebrate today as if they can put aside this fundamental truth that all other things should be based on--the sanctity of life. It is not the mainstream voters who adhere to the abortion rights in our country that troubles me most. It is the Christians who were willing to turn there back on the most fragile of human life to join the bandwagon going in the wrong direction. Christians, what are we doing?
I am thankful that we have an African American man as President. This is the next step in getting to the point in our Country where the color of a man's skin will not influence our vote. It is a step that is necessary to move to the next level. And yet, I am grieved.
What is more scary than a really compelling, articulate leader, leading us in the wrong direction on the most fundamental of issues.
