If you are in my heart, you're my family..

Those beautiful bibs knitted by Aunt Nacy have come in very handy--and Maisy considers them a fashion accessory!

"Thumbs Up! As we were leaving the hospital to come home..

After a busy day of getting all the details in place, Maisy is home. She is very tired and very happy to be home. She was very excited to see all the kids and her nurses also. You can sense the relief she feels in every bone in her body! She is still really drooling. The surgeon finally gave us a possible explanation which we had assumed anyway. The nissen is probably too tight. It could be just swollen post operatively or it could need to be loosened. He doesn't want her to eat or drink anything by mouth for 3 weeks until we go back to the surgeons office. The pulmonologist who discharged her and directs her on going care along with her primary pediatrician has a different opinion about the feeding orders.

He did not right the discharge orders to reflect that she is NPO (nothing by mouth). At this point, we are going to proceed with caution as far as any feeding goes. If she begins to improve, we don't want to stop feeding all together. Over a month of nothing by mouth can be devastating for a child who has oral aversion. It could really set her back. But for now, we will be very cautious.

Maisy found a new favorite song in the hospital. A band played it on Nick Jr. over and over between shows. It was called "Family"...and the lyrics say...If you are in my heart, you're my family...and you're in my heart and I'm so glad you are there. She loves this song with all her heart. And so, for all of you who have been following Maisy's journey through this time of her life..Maisy says "You're my family." And with all of our heart, we say thank you. We'll keep updating about the Maisy and the family, so come back and visit any time.

Love, Julie
