At discharge, the docs decided to have them give her flu shot as well as the pneumonia vaccine. Unfortunately, Maisy has been having lots of pain in her leg from the pneumonia shot. Even the slightest movement causes her so much pain. It is very swollen. The ibuprofin seems to help and so we are staying on top of the pain with that.
She slept well yesterday although she is still have lots of thick secretions from her trach. I think she is still clearing out all the gunk from her lungs when she was retaining all the fluid in her body after surgery. She has had more plugs in her trach the past week than she has ever had since we have known her. They can be scary because a plug blocks her trach and she can't breath well until it is suctioned out..and if things are think and gunky in there, it can take some work to clear.
Overall, Maisy is calm and relaxed and happy to be home. The kids are taking turns playing with her--trying to make up for lost time. She is enjoying all the attention and love she is getting from them.
It seems like we went into the hospital at the end of Summer and we came home in Winter, and we were only in the hospital for 12 days...only in Minnesota!
