One of many reasons..

One of many reasons why I love my husband of 20 years--

I called him up when I was on my way home from the Orphan Care Summit last month as he was taking care of all the kids. In fact, he was on his way home from the doctor with two of them (one with a broken foot and one with pneumonia.) In my infinite funny-ness, decided to tell him that we had won the raffle at the conference..an HIV positive sibgroup of three from Ethiopia.

His response was not screaming or hyperventilating or even disbelief...nope, his response was "Are they boys or girls?"
Yep, that is why I love him!

Who would have thought?

Who would have thought that 20 years ago today, as we were getting ready to walk down the aisle, that our life would be as it is today?
Who would have thought that our ministry would have unfolded in this way...one layer at a time.
Who would have thought that we could have had exactly the life that we dreamed of without having any idea of what the dream was going to look like when we started out?
20 years ago, we started out on a journey that has led us to this place in time--

The song "Find us Faithful" by Steve Green was sung at our wedding. The line that meant the most to us in that song was "May all who come behind us, find us faithful. May the fire of our devotion light their way." That was our dream then. And our dream today... We have learned that it is not our devotion to God that will light their way..but our weakness and dependency on the one who is the giver of all light. It is still our dream that God will light their way through us...and that God would find us faithful in the next 20 years together.
