"and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32
Freedom to pursue our desires...and when that desire is Jesus..it is only then that we are truly free. What a joy it is live for Christ.
On our way home from our Saturday evening Easter service, we watched as the clouds rolled away to reveal the sun...something that has been hidden these past days here in Minnesota. It has been a long, drawn out winter (that has pretended to be spring) this year. It is amazing how much the weather can change our attitude, our mood, our outlook.
The glimpse of the spectacular sun was short lived as the night overtook the sky...but the promise of a beautiful tomorrow was just enough to energize the whole bus full of children. It was just what we needed right when we needed it, yet again. A kind stranger handed us $20 on the way out of Church to get a treat for the kids on the way home. They were excited to order root beer floats and strawberry shakes from Wendy's...instead of something on the 99 cent menu. The total bill came to $20.05 cents...exactly what we had in cash.
God speaks to each of us at the level we need...we all needed these tangible gifts that reminded us of his unfailing love for us. The sermon on this text, the sweet worship, and the God exalting praise... reminded me that I could not see the cross clearly because the burdens I was carrying...all stacked up on top of each other in my arms... were blocking my view. I have laid them at the foot of the cross...and I am feeling the freedom that only comes from faith in Christ.
His truth has set me free...and I can't wait to celebrate Easter Sunday...I feel like the weight of the world was lifted off of my shoulders...and I feel free again.
