Kaden is the instant barometer around our house. If the stress level begins to rise, he melts down...immediately. This week the atmospheric stress pressure was creeping up (okay..not creeping--more like exploding) and so did Kaden. In his tirade, he decided that he wanted a new family and that he was going to run away. He didn't pack a peanut butter sandwich or a some clothes. Instead, he was bringing something so much more essential to him...His baby brother Isaac.
And, unlike the average child who decides to run away at age 7, he realized quickly that if he was going to take Isaac with him, he was going to need some help. And so, still raging as he was making his plans, yells..."And I am taking a nurse with too." Awww...I wanted to break into song..."the child takes the nurse..hi ho the dairy o, the child takes the nurse..." (h The line in that song finally has meaning to our generation.)
And we are going to Sue's (one of Isaac's nurses) house!
What a precious child God has given us. He sees no disability, no inconvenience, no grief..he sees his beautiful brother Isaac. All I see is unconditional love.
It is true, there is nothing "normal" about the life my children are living...and for that, I am grateful.
