Great morning

"I am all done with the hospital. let's put our shoes on and go.." That is what you would be hearing from Elijah if you were here. But, overall he is having a great day. ... lots of smiles..and handling procedures really well. Prays are being answered in remarkable ways.

Relief..

After the initial reaction to the Chemo, things settled down and Elijah has been able to sleep pretty well. He has a temp, which is common, but has been able to tolerate all the frequent vitals checks. He is fearful of all the buttons on the side of his bed and so doesn't want to lay his head down. If he wakes up, I have to lay him back down so that he won't fall asleep sitting up. It is the things that he enjoys most, like buttons and electronic things, that can also cause him the most anxiety. His room is lit up like a Christmas tree with all of the red, blue and green lights that represent the power buttons and displays of the equipment in his room. He has 3 TV screens in his room and a computer and video game machine that are all controlled by another touch screen moniter right by his bed. So far, he is afraid of that moniter. But, he can control the very large window coverings with one of the screens and so he loves to put those up and down..and up and down...and up and down...I haven't found any parental controls yet...hoping they built those into all of this avaible technology in his room!

And with technology, comes malfunction. He has this really cool panel of lights that he can control. They lights can change all different colors. Last night, we couldn't get them to turn off. Eventually, someone figured out to fix them and so we didn't have to sleep in a room that was glowing in a bright rainbow of colors.

So, with great praise, I am feeling such relief that Elijah was able to sleep overnight. We have to expect some bumps...it's Chemo afterall, and they didn't name it a "picnic in the park." Although I was thinking that with the weather that we have been having in Minnesota this week (i.e. hot and humid!) that a picnic in the park could result in temporary symptoms that may look like what Elijah experienced last night...excessive sweating, fever, nausea..

There are 12 other kids on the Bone Marrow Transplant unit here...all at different stages of the process. So, if you are in the heat and start feeling some of that discomfort, maybe that could be a reminder to pray for these kids who are fighting the illnesses that are threatening their lives.

We are thankful for your prayers and encouraged with God's protection over Elijah.
