By Thursday evening, I am usually worn out from the week..and preparing to face the weekend with only minimal staff to help us do all that needs to get done. I am usually exhausted and can't think of anything better than getting my pajamas on and spend an evening at home. Instead, I find myself in the midst of a group of friends with disabilities. And each time I fight the urge to stay home, but go anyway, I am blessed in ways I never expect.
We sing. We pray. We sing some more. We laugh. We praise God with no concern for what others around us are going to think. We share love one soul to another. It's worship in it's purest form.
"People of Praise" is my favorite hour of the week. My favorite. Hands down. I really think that God feels the same way..His presence is felt in everyone hug, in every worship song, in every bongo drum played.
McKenna loves going to People of Praise and I am not sure who loves it more in our family. Pastor Don Anderson and several others gather every Thursday at a Church to serve the disability community...and I know they would each say they get so much more back than they can ever give. It gives me hope for the future. It renews my faith that there are people who care about nurturing the souls of those with cognitive disabilities. And not just the parents...
In one hour, I am renewed by the power of the Holy Spirit. I am refreshed. My love for Jesus Christ is rekindled. And it has nothing to do with a polished worship service and the talent of a few gifted people. It has to do with pure worship from the heart..in the midst of the "least of these."
I am so thankful that my kids have a place to go to like this...I am so thankful that everyone is welcomed here. Everyone. Even me.

SUPER COOL!!!!
