The big reveal...

Life has just gotten away from me...the stuff that needs to get done, the stuff that I want to get done, the urgent...the important...the mundane. It took over and the last thing I could do was blog. So, I will give you a run down in photos of what has consumed our time...

First, the addition, while it went smoothly, was incredibly challenging. With all the kids and their varying levels of discomfort with change, we were left with displaced kids from their normal surroundings and routines. And let me just say, it was tough..on all of us. Here are few pics of the completed spaces. They are wonderful! We love them and I get so excited when I walk into either of the spaces...and we could not have done it without the help of so many people who stepped in and helped..
McKenna's new "apartment." She now has a living room space along with her bedroom. The goal is to increase her independence while still allowing her to live with us at home. The walls are a beautiful light lilac color and she has a great space now to hang out!

And as you can see, McKenna has a guest in her living room...Tyler is back from Kenya for a couple of months! We have all been waiting for him to come home and we are enjoying our time with him.

And here are some pics of Aaron and Isaac's new bedroom! It is so perfect for them...
Our talented friend (and Aaron's PCA) hand painted the murals on the walls (aren't they amazing?!!) It is an incredible space...that meets both boys needs. Complete with a fish tank I found at a garage sale as well as a door and a ramp to head out to the backyard patio, this room's function and fun is beyond our expectations.

The Ikea cabinets work perfectly for all of the boys' equipment and supplies. Each of the cabinets are filled with pull out drawer features and self closers...it was worth putting the cabinets together ourselves (along with help from friends!) to get these extra features that we otherwise couldn't have afforded.

Everything about the space is so functional...caring for our medically fragile kids has never been easier when we have space to move around in and they have space to build their skills that will allow them to become as independent as they are able as well. We are so blessed beyond measure with this new space...it was something we had only imagined...and we can not thank all of the people who helped along way to make this a reality!

Now that everyone is settled in their new spaces, life is able to begin to go back to normal...or in our case..back to abnormal! So, let's see..what else has been going on...there's prom, truancy hearings, spring fling dance for Kenna, Maisy's spectacular princess tea party, Maisy's make a wish reveal event, Elijah's pneumonia, Isaac's medical ups and downs, end of the year events, plays, rugby games, photo sessions, IEP's and three year re-evaluations, struggles with FASD behaviors out of control, birthday parties to attend and oh..yes..breathing. That is about all we have time left to do. I'll post some pictures later this week.

  1. Julie, I was just thinking about you today and wondering if I should be worried that you have not been blogging--so I just prayed instead. : ) How great to see this post and know that your crazy, beautiful life has just been a little more on the crazy end recently. Those two spaces are just amazing, and what a blessing.
