| Not a great pictures of how Mia lifts up Issac's arm so that he can pet her..it's not easy getting pics when they are both on my lap! |
And now, we have Mia. She is a self taught therapy cat. Maybe all that TV she watched taught her the value of therapy animals. Because, she gets it. She loves people..especially Isaac. Each evening, I look forward to getting the little ones in bed so I can sneak Isaac out of his room and snuggle into the late evening. And as soon as Isaac is all snuggled in my arms, we have a visitor. It's Mia. She understands that Isaac can't stroke her and pet her without assistance. First she nudged. Then she prodded. Then she gave him the pleading eyes. And when nothing worked, she decided to make adaptations. Mia softly puts her head under Isaac's arm and lifts up his hand so that Isaac can pet her. It is the sweetest thing you have ever seen. Isaac is able to pet the cat without any assistance from us. Mia helps. And Isaac squeels with excitement. Mia is a therapy cat. And she is good at it.
Pets have enriched our lives. Diego, our small horse...wait, I mean large labradoodle, is a sweet family member. Mia, is a great cat. The kids have learned so much from living with our pets...and yep, they have allergies. We worried about that before we added these furry friends. But, our kids were already on allergy meds for other allergies that we couldn't control. They all do just fine with the pets in our homes. I love our pets...I think it's time to add some fish....
